• Craft original, thoughtful and imaginative creative writing pieces.
• Compose insightful, structured essays which express complex ideas effectively and address demanding questions.
• Complete practice assessments which prepare students for their HSC exams.

The Instructor
A Commitment-Free Initial Assessment
At HSC Excellence, every prospective English student, prior to his or her first class, undergoes a face-to-face meeting designed to identity the student’s strengths and weaknesses and to ensure that sessions are targeted towards his or her learning needs. Parents are encouraged to attend. This discussion provides an opportunity for Mark to uncover the student’s academic goals, address the student’s specific needs and answer questions about the tutoring process.
Satisfaction Guarantee
HSC Excellence offers every new student a First Session Satisfaction Guarantee. We’re so confident you’ll like our service that if you’re not completely satisfied for any reason after your first session and would prefer not to continue, it’s free. There’s nothing to pay before the first session, and there’s no pressure to continue, so meeting with us truly is commitment-free.
Frequently Asked Questions

When do sessions take place?
Sessions take place at a set time every week during term time, either after school on a week day or during the weekend, according to the student and instructor’s availability. For questions about availability, contact Mark
How are the sessions structured?
Tutoring sessions are designed to meet the needs of each individual student. Typically sessions combine elements of teaching, discussion, exercises and essay writing. Sessions are focussed on a student’s upcoming assessments in order to maximise the student’s academic performance.
Can I cancel or reschedule a lesson?
Absolutely. While students are encouraged to attend weekly sessions during the term to maximise the effectiveness of tutoring, we know that sometimes life gets in the way. If you’d like to cancel or reschedule a session, give us at least 24 hours notice (the more notice the better!) and we’ll find an alternative time that suits both you and the tutor.
How can I pay my tuition fees?
By direct bank transfer. For new students, fees for the first block of ten sessions are due after the student’s first session. Thereafter, fees are payable in advance for each block of ten sessions.
Is there homework?
Usually, yes. In order to prepare for sessions and study effectively, students receive homework aimed at increasing their knowledge and understanding of the material covered during sessions.
